BTL held its fifth workshop! Over 130 students attended, making it our largest workshop yet. The students had a chance to practice the skills that they learned, and engage in drills throughout the workshop. They had so much fun and we can’t wait to continue our workshops online!

BTL held our first summer camp in 2019! Numerous instructors taught events of Public Speaking, Public Forum, and Extemp. Students learned a multitude of skills and displayed them throughout the week and at the camp tournament. This event was a huge success and we are so excited for our next summer camp! BTL held our first college seminar at Haggard Library! This event consisted of two sessions, and in each session, numerous college students explained the logistics and requirements of the college application process and gave advice on how to best shape a high school resume. With almost 100 students in attendance at the college seminar, the event was a huge success, and we look forward to holding it again in the years to come! BTL held its second consecutive Spring Workshop! More than 60 students joined us to learn about and develop their speech and debate skills. To provide a specialized and efficient curriculum, advanced students and beginners were split into separate classes. Overall, the drills, activities, and rounds that students participated in were an invaluable experience, making this event a resounding success!
Be The Light created $125 gift boxes to donate to 20 children for Children Advocacy Center of Collin College's Holiday Project!  Using our experience with the workshop held in the Spring, BTL held another workshop in the fall. Thanks to our amazing instructor team, we were able to hold 3 distinct classes, each targeting a specific aspect of Speech and Debate. At the end of the workshop, students were able to show off what they learned through speeches given to the class, and were able to apply what they had learned in a real-life scenario!
Be The Light held our first ever workshop! Being newly created, our 7 founding members organized the entire event held over 3 days. During these sessions, we had the opportunity to introduce the students to Speech and Debate, and we saw them improve and have fun! From this first workshop, BTL began its series of workshops that are still held every year.
